Missing Girl Found Murdered After Rape

KARACHI: The body of a missing girl was found floating in the Lyari river near Liaquatabad on April 16 and an autopsy found that she was subjected to a sexual assault.

Police said that it appeared that the girl was kidnapped, raped and murdered. The body was dumped in the Lyari river and it floated to Liaquatabad’s Angara Goth.

They said that the corpse was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for a post-mortem examination.

Police Surgeon Summaiya Syed told Dawn that the physical findings were “suggestive of sexual violence”.

She said that all relevant samples had been collected and the cause of death reserved until the receipt of reports.

Liaquatabad SHO Ghulam Yasin said that the girl was identified as Savera Jamil, 10.

Sachal SHO Aurangzeb Khattak told Dawn that the girl had gone missing in Sikander Goth on Tuesday and her family had registered a kidnapping case against unknown persons.
