Girl Raped, Murdered In Layyah

MUZAFFARGARH: A 14-year-old girl was allegedly raped and murdered in the Kot Sultan area of district Layyah. The incident triggered anger among the local residents. Police have arrested the suspect and launched an investigation.

According to the first information report, the alleged rape victim, a student of Government Girls Primary School Chandrayan, was abducted on her way home from school by a man (name withheld). He allegedly raped her and later forced her to ingest poisonous pills. She fainted on the way home and died while being shifted to Nishtar Hospital by Rescue 1122.

The victim’s mother lodged a complaint at Kot Sultan police station, following which a case was registered under sections 302 and 376(iii) of the Pakistan Penal Code.

Police arrested the suspect on Saturday night and will send him to Lahore for a DNA test on Tuesday. Layyah District Police Officer Muhammad Ali Waseem assured that strict action would be taken against the perpetrator.
