Police Team Formed To Probe Sarim’s Rape-murder

1 min read

The investigation into the kidnapping, rape, and murder of a seven-year-old boy, Sarim, in North Karachi has been handed back to the concerned district police from the Anti-Violent Crime Cell. Subsequently, DIG West Irfan Ali has constituted a four-member Special Investigation Team to ensure a thorough probe into the case.

DSP Fareed Ahmad will lead the SIT.

According to SSP AVCC Aneel Haider, the cell typically handles cases of kidnapping for ransom. However, no evidence of ransom has been found in the case of young Sarim. He stressed that the transfer of the investigation will not hinder its progress.

SSP Haider revealed that the person who had contacted Sarim’s family to demand ransom was a fraud. The fake kidnapper used a foreign mobile phone number, which is already linked to several other cases on police records. Legal action is being taken against him, and police are investigating the use of the foreign number. Currently, five suspects are in police custody for their suspected involvement in the kidnapping and murder.
