JHANG: A number of male and female teachers serving at afternoon schools are awaiting their monthly salaries for the last seven months.
The education officials allegedly showed laxity in the affairs of afternoon schools where a large number of students were enrolled. The official sources revealed that teachers had been waiting to get their monthly salaries for seven months. The educated youngsters, especially females, alleged that because of this temporary teaching job, they had been indebted by bearing fare to reach the schools for the last 10 months.
According to the policy guidelines, heads of the selective girls and boys public primary and elementary schools had hired services of MA/MSc qualified males and females to teach at public schools on a limited monthly salary. They said the classes of afternoon schools were launched to facilitate the out-of-school children of the far-flung areas. Sources pointed out that required funds were released by the Punjab government to pay the pending salaries of the staff, including male and female teachers of Jhang district. Education CEO Tanveer Ahmed told The News that the DEOs of elementary wings had already been directed to complete the process for early release of pending salaries of the school teachers and other staff.
