Petitioner moves high court against China cutting in Qayyumabad

KARACHI:

In a brazen act of abuse of power, politically well-connected people have carved up a playground and sold the plots to people.

The Sindh High Court (SHC) heard a petition against the illegal construction of children’s park in Qayyumabad.

The petitioner’s counsel submitted that illegal constructions have been made on the children’s park by cutting plots on the land and sold to the people.

The counsel of a plot owner submitted that the report of the commissioner/Nazir (court official) appointed by the high court has come. Nazir’s report does not mention the encroachment on the park land.

The petitioner’s counsel, however, submitted that Nazir has shown in his report that there are encroachments and also mentioned KMC’s notification which shows that the plots created on the parkland have been declared ‘not leased’. The notification also indicates that the plots were sold by under ‘China cutting’.

The court adjourned the hearing till December 23.

Non-bailable warrants issued

The SHC has issued non-bailable arrest warrants for three accused in the case of blackmailing a young woman through an obscene video.

The petitioner’s lawyer, Saeed-uz-Zaman Advocate, stated that Al-Falah police registered the case a year ago but did not take any action. Accused Tabish also grabbed two houses by blackmailing the complainant. The accused made the video viral on social media a year ago.

After the arguments by the petitioner’s lawyer, the court issued non-bailable arrest warrants of accused Tabish, his associates Khalid Khoshaba and Abdul Hameed.
