Man Arrested For Assaulting Granddaughter

KOHAT: The police here have arrested a man on charges of sexually assaulting his teenage orphan granddaughter.

An FIR of the alleged occurrence was registered at Shakardara police station on Oct 14, on the complaint of the alleged victim, who claimed that her grandfather repeatedly assaulted her during the last five months and warned her not to tell anyone, otherwise she would be harmed.

The victim said she was afraid and did not tell anybody about her being molested by her grandfather. But when she became pregnant and the family got wind of it, she narrated the whole story to them after which her pregnancy was terminated by medication.

She said she was an orphan having three sisters and a brother, who were living in Behramabad.

However, she said, her maternal uncle persuaded her to file a case in the police station. The police registered a case under section 376 (rape) and 338-C (punishment for abortion) of the Pakistan Penal Code against the accused, who was arrested and handed over to the investigation department.

The alleged victim was also taken to KDA Teaching Hospital by lady police for a medical report, which confirmed the offence, official sources said.
