HYDERABAD:

A woman allegedly killed her teenage daughter before committing suicide at her residence located near Nara Jail in Hyderabad on 13 September 2024.

The SHO SITE police station Imran Rasheed Shaikh told the media that initial investigations suggest that the deceased 45-year-old Bakhtawar gave sleep-inducing pills to her daughter. He added that when the girl fell unconscious her mother tied her hands and feet before strangling her to death. She later hanged herself from the ceiling to commit suicide.

The SHO said three sons of Bakhtawar, aged between 16 years to 22 years, lived with them and worked as labourers. The initial motive behind the murder and suicide are reported to be poverty as the family lived in a single room house which is so small that the boys used to sleep outside. The dead bodies were shifted to Liaquat University Hospital for postmortem.
