Six schools to be made eco-friendly

RAWALPINDI: The Education Department has approved three boys’ and 3 girls’ high schools as models eco-friendly schools in all 23 tehsils of Rawalpindi division.

The Ministry of Education has asked the District Education Authority’s CEOs of all 42 districts of the province for the list of these schools by the end of this week. There will be tree planting and kitchen gardening in the model schools of each tehsil.

Sources said that fruity shade plants will be planted in these schools. All types of flowers will be cultivated in all corridors, they said, adding that plants will be planted outside and inside the boundary walls of schools. All the plants to be planted will be 6 to 8 feet in height and these plants must be protected.

There will be water coolers with clean drinking water and cold water. There will be no water leakage anywhere. Rainwater will not accumulate anywhere. A proper drainage system will be made and washrooms will be clean with water, towels, and soap available.

Anti-dengue campaign will be carried out with complete SOP. In the first phase, three schools each will be made environment-friendly green model schools. All these processes will be completed during the summer vacation. All planting will be completed during the rainy season campaign.
