TAXILA: The All Pakistan Private School Management Association (APPSMA) has announced that it would support the prime minister’s “education emergency”, with a focus on enrolling out of-school children in its institutions to make them productive citizens.

This announcement was made by APPSMA office-bearers at a press conference on 31st May 2024. The association`s president, Kashif Adeeb Javadani, cooperate and humanitarian head Naeem Ashraf as well as other office-bearers said a delegation of APPSMA met Punjab Minister of Education Rana Sikandar Hayat and informed him that private institutions were ready to play their part in enrolling out-of-school children.

Speaking on the occasion, Mr Javadani said providing free education till grade 10was the constitutional responsibility of the government, but currently the private sector was sharing 60pc burden of the government.

`Instead of giving relief to the private sector, the government has imposed two dozen taxes on it and the provincial government should support the private education sector to address the issue of education emergency.

He said the association had urged the minister to allow educational activities to continue during summer breaks to prevent learning loss and ensure academic continuity.

Naeem Ashraf urged the government to provide low-rate solar panels to schools in easy installments, given the exorbitant cost of electricity, to create a conducive learning environment. Correspondent
