According to Gulberg police, a bullet fired from an unknown direction pierced the main door of a house near Gujjar Nala and hit the boy, Mehtab Husain, on the shoulder while he was in the courtyard. The child succumbed to his wound.

The body was shifted to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for medico-legal formalities.

During an initial probe, police found that a musical function was being held on the other side of Gujjar Nullah. A shopkeeper, identified as Aijaz, alerted Arif that the aerial firing had claimed the life of a child. Subsequently, the suspect and others closed the office and fled the scene.

Acting on a tip-off, police conducted a raid and arrested Arif, while efforts are underway to apprehend the remaining suspects.
