Boy dies, parents sustain injuries when dumper crushes their bike

KARACHI:

A 10-year-old boy, Samamah, lost his life, while his father, Rizwan, 35, and mother, Laraib, 30, sustained injuries when a speeding dumper truck hit the motorcycle they were riding, under the Gulbai bridge, Shershah.

According to the injured father, the deceased boy had secured first position in his fifth-grade exams and the family had gone for dinner to Kharadar Food Street to celebrate his achievement. Samamah and his injured parents were the residents of Saeedabad, Baldia Town.

The enraged crowd set the dumper truck on fire while the dumper driver fled the scene after the accident.

The police have arrested one person from the crowd who set the dumper on fire and are searching for the dumper driver.

In another road mishap, an infant girl died while her parents sustained injuries when the motorcycle they were riding slipped in Baldia Town. The victims were shifted to the Civil Hospital where the minor girl was identified as 18-month-old Suhana while here parents were identified as Shahida and Zaheer.

Meanwhile, a motorcyclist died when his two-wheeler collided with a tanker, parked on the roadside near Madam Apartments, Sharea Faisal. The body was shifted to Jinnah Hospital. Nothing was found on the body to identify the deceased.

Separately, an Assistant Sub-Inspector of Police, Taufiq Irshad was injured in a road mishap near the main gate of PAF Faisal Base, Sharea Faisal. He was shifted to Jinnah Hospital.
