Widow, Daughters Missing for Six Days

BAHAWALNAGAR: A widow and her two minor daughters, who went missing six days ago, have yet to be traced, while their family fears they may have been abducted for sexual assault.

According to a first information report registered with B-Division police, ‘S’ (28) had been living with her father in Madni Colony for the past four years following her husband’s death. She has two daughters ‘F’ (6), and ‘U’ (4).

On Oct 7, at around 4pm, the woman left home with her daughters to drop them off at a nearby academy, as she did daily. When they failed to return, the family contacted the academy and learnt that the woman had not brought the children there that day.

The woman’s father told the media that his daughter and granddaughters were still missing and alleged that police had failed to make any headway in tracing them.

A spokesperson for the DPO said efforts were under way to recover the missing woman and her daughters safely and arrest those responsible.

In another case, the family of a 14-year-old mentally challenged boy who was allegedly sexually assaulted has accused Shehar Farid police of delaying the arrest of the suspect, four days after the incident.

The victim’s relatives told the media that the boy, a resident of Mauza Dilla Akoka, left home around 11am on Oct 9 and went missing. When he failed to return for a long time, his family members began searching for him and found him coming out of a maize field.

When questioned, the boy reportedly told his family that a local man, ‘N’, had taken him to the fields on the pretext of asking him to carry fodder, where he allegedly sexually assaulted him.

The family claimed that despite the registration of an FIR, the suspect was still at large and had not been arrested. They accused the police of showing reluctance to take action against him.

Police, however, maintained that raids were being conducted to arrest the suspect.
