PESHAWAR: Almost every second student failed to qualify the annual intermediate examination conducted by the Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Peshawar as results were declared on Monday.
A total of 66,735 students appeared in Part-II of the examination and 35,103 of them qualified it as the pass percentage stood at 52. Similarly, 63,605 students had appeared in Part-I of the examination and 31,169 of them remained successful while 51 per cent of them failed it.
Overall, the students of Jinnah College for Women, University of Peshawar, have clinched top positions in higher secondary school certificate examination.
Ayesha Bibi, a student of Jinnah College for Women, topped the board in the pre-medical group by obtaining 1,134 out of 1,200 marks.
Boards of Malakand, Swat, Dera Ismail Khan and Abbottabad also declare results
She was followed by Sobia Eshal, of the same college with 1,132 marks, while the third position was shared by Ayesha Rahman, a student of Jinnah College for Women and Duwa Amjad from Forward Girls College Hayatabad with 1,128 marks.
The pre-engineering group was topped by Maryam Khan from Jinnah College for Women with 1,135 marks.
The second and third positions of pre-engineering group were secured by Haris Kakakhel and Mohammad Tashfeen Saleem, by getting 1,094 and 1,090 marks, respectively. Both are students of Peshawar Model Degree College, Dalazak Road.
In the general/computer science group, Fatima Tariq from Hadaf College for Girls, Achini Chowk, Mardan, stood first with 1,118 marks. Haris Ahmad Awan of Hadaf College for Boys secured second position by obtaining 1,093 marks while Salman Ahmad from Cadet College Mohmand scored 1,077 marks to clinch third position.
In Lower Dir, girl students from private colleges secured 10 of the 12 top positions as BISE Malakand announced the results of intermediate examination.
Diya Iman of Islamia Model College, Timergara, topped the board by getting 1,133 marks. Yumna Malik of Genius Model College secured second position with 1,132 marks while Silwa Iqbal, a student of Islamia Model College, Timergara, stood third with 1,118 marks.
In pre-engineering group, Lubna Bibi of Islamia College Jandol secured first position with 1,072 marks. Her classmate Zeenat Bakht stood second with 1,061 marks while Mufaza Bibi of The Orbit School and College, Sakhakot, obtained third position with 1,030 marks.
A total of 75,018 candidates appeared in the examination and 60,092 of them were declared successful.
According to the results announced by BISE Dera Ismail Khan, Ayesha Rehman of Dar-i-Arqam Model School and College topped the board by getting 1,146 marks. Maliaha Fatima of Leads School and College stood second with 1,137 marks while Mohammad Zeeshan of Cadet College Spinkai secured third position with 1,136 marks.
Cadet College Spinkai secured all three top positions in the pre-engineering group. Ihsanullah Barki stood first with 1,124 marks, Mohammad Yasir second with 1,105 marks and Abdullah Habib third with 1,104 marks.
BISE Swat also announced the results of annual intermediate examinations.
In pre-medical group, Hafsa Inayat of Dawn School and College System, Swat, secured first position with 1,155 marks. Zarlala Gohar of Al-Madina College, Amankot, Swat, stood second with 1,147 marks while Aroosa Ali Khan of Al-Madina College, Amankot, Swat, and Iqan Rehman of Tipu Model School and College, Kabal, Swat, jointly secured third position with 1,143 marks each.
Meanwhile, girl students clinched top positions as BISE Abbottabad announced results of intermediate examination.
Zanosh Mughal of Tameer-i-Wattan Public School and College Mansehra secured first position with 1,152 marks. Sanwaish Rehman of Tameer-i-Wattan Public School Abbottabad stood second with 1,151 marks while Hooria Tariq Khan of Tameer-i-Wattan Public School Mansehra secured third position with 1,150 marks.
