Girl Rescued, 3 Arrested after Alleged Kidnapping, Rape

Islamabad: Police rescued a 14-year-old girl and arrested three suspects within 24 hours of her alleged kidnapping and rape on the outskirts of the capital on May 16.

According to Karpa police, the girl left her home in a housing society following a domestic dispute. While on the road, she accepted a lift in a private vehicle. The driver allegedly took her to Jhangi Syedan instead of her destination and, along with two accomplices, sexually assaulted her overnight.

An FIR was registered on the complaint of the girl’s family. Police traced the vehicle using Safe City camera footage and launched a search operation.

Karpa SHO Mazhar Sial said a team led by Sub-Inspector Riaz Noon was formed on the directions of senior officials. “Using modern technology and Safe City footage, the team rescued the girl within 24 hours and arrested all three suspects,” he said. The suspects, residents of Jhangi Syedan, are on physical remand. Police said further investigation is underway and a challan will be submitted once evidence is complete.
