PESHAWAR: Minister for Elementary and Secondary Education Arshad Ayub Khan on Mar 18 instructed chairmen of educational boards to take measures to provide facilities to students during the matriculation examinations slated for March 31.
An official handout said that he was chairing a meeting about the upcoming matriculation examinations.Elementary and Secondary Education Secretary Muhammad Khalid, Special Secretary Iftikhar Ali Khan, and chairman of Boards of Intermediate and Secondary Education from across the province participated in the meeting online.The minister directed each board to establish a public complaints portal in their respective districts so that issues and complaints faced by students about examinations can be resolved.
He added that a control room would be set up in the office of the Secretary for Elementary and Secondary Education. The chairmen of the educational boards briefed the meeting on the preparations for the matriculation examinations in their respective areas. They said the examinations would be conducted under a transparent system, and modern software would be used for e-paper and e-marking. They said security arrangements had been made in sensitive examination centres.
The meeting informed that boards would arrange transportation for the students who faced difficulty reaching examination centres.Cameras will be installed in examination halls and connected to the internet, officials said.Speaking at the meeting, the minister instructed board chairmen that conducting matriculation exams was their responsibility; therefore, they must ensure transparency and prevent cheating.
He said the use of mobile phones during the exams would be banned, adding that inspection teams would be formed to properly monitor the examinations.He emphasized that foolproof arrangements should be made for the matriculation exams so that valuable academic years of students were not wasted, and the exams were conducted in a clean and transparent manner in accordance with the government’s standard operating procedures.
