FIA Obtains 5-day Remand of Eight Cops in Gang-rape Case

SUKKUR: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Thursday obtained a five-day remand of all eight suspects nominated in the alleged gang-rape in the RD-44 police station of Jacobabad district about a week ago.

The FIA had registered a new FIR (No. CC-LRK (Acc)-1/2026) against two SHOs and their six subordinates and arrested them. The suspects were produced in a court to obtain their remand.

The victim had earlier objected before a judge that the names of one SHO and his colleague were removed from the original FIR lodged at the RD-44 police station of Thul town.

She had stated before the district and sessions judge of Jacobabad that she, her sister and grandmother had been detained at the police station, where the suspects subjected her to rape for many days. The judge transferred the case to an additional district and sessions judge, who assigned the probe to the Larkana FIA. Eventually, the FIR lodged at the RD-44 police station was cancelled.

The suspects nominated in the FIA case are SHOs Mohammad Nawaz Brohi and Maqsood Sanjrani; and their subordinates Khadim Jakhrani, Yasin Jakhrani, Barkat Jakhrani, Mehrab Sundrani, Abdul Nabi Saamat and Mir Hassan.

FIA Investigating Officer Ehsan Mirani told media personnel that a clean and transparent probe would be conducted into the case.

He said that the victim, along with her affected relatives, would be produced before a judicial magistrate on Friday for her statement under Section 164.
