LOWER DIR: Residents of Malakand Bala here have complained about lack of a girls’ primary school in the village, forcing pupils to study at the boys’ school.
Talking to reporters, Malik Abdul Mustaan, Farhad and others said the boys’ school was also without a boundary wall, making it unsafe for students as there was a risk of children falling into the nearby stream.
The residents said a dirt road was constructed to the area in the past, which had now turned into ruins. They complained there was no culvert over the local stream, which cut off the village’s link to other areas whenever flash floods occurred during the rainy season.
They further said the streets and link roads in Malakand Bala were in a dilapidated condition, while drainage channels were choked and there was no sanitation system in place to collect garbage or clear waste.
They urged the elected representatives to take immediate notice of their problems.
