PESHAWAR: Minister for Education Arshad Ayub Khan on November 4 said that the powers of education boards and the examination system would remain entirely under the jurisdiction of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
“No decision will be made that could adversely affect the public or students,” he assured while presiding over a review meeting of the Education Department. The meeting was attended by Secretary Education Muhammad Khalid Khan, Special Secretaries Abdul Basit and Masood Khan, and other senior officials of the department.
He directed the Education Department authorities to immediately withdraw the summary that had proposed conducting examinations and assessments of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Education Boards through the Inter Board Committee of Chairmen (IBCC).
The minister clarified that the submitted summary was merely a proposal and had not received any approval; therefore, it must be withdrawn immediately. He emphasized that no additional burden should be placed on provincial education boards, students, or the provincial government. The minister added that a detailed review would be carried out regarding paper printing, e-marking, preparation of answer books, and other related processes.
