RAWALPINDI: The Health and Education departments have issued a new 15-point advisory for students and citizens to protect themselves from smog and dust. A circular has been sent to all public and private schools, while instructions have also been issued to display advisory banners in schools and main city areas.

Both departments have also launched a social media awareness campaign to promote precautionary measures against smog.

According to the circular, students, motorcyclists, and citizens have been advised to keep fans running for air circulation, avoid burning unnecessary items, and drink 8 to 10 glasses of water daily. They have also been instructed not to rub their eyes, wear glasses when going outdoors, and use masks at all times while travelling. The advisory further recommends washing the face, hands, eyes, and nose frequently, minimising outdoor activities, and consulting a doctor immediately if eyes turn red or the throat becomes sore. Citizens have been asked to avoid cold drinks and ice cream, drink herbal tea frequently.
