Rs3 million ransom recovered, woman among two suspects arrested

A five-year-old boy abducted from the jurisdiction of Miana Gondal police station has been recovered in a police operation, which also resulted in the death of one kidnapper and the arrest of two others, including a woman accused of aiding the crime.

Police sources said the child, Abdullah, went missing on April 6 after leaving home at around 11:00am and failing to return.

His father immediately reported the incident, prompting police to register an FIR and launch a formal investigation without delay.

District Police Officer (DPO) Waseem Riaz personally took notice of the case and constituted a special search team led by DSP Malakwal Circle. The team included SHO Miana Gondal and CIA officials, who worked tirelessly to locate the child.

After tracking the suspects to a hideout in Dafar Forest, police moved in for an operation. The kidnappers opened fire in an attempt to flee, prompting police to return fire. During the brief gunfight, one suspect was shot dead on the spot, while another was injured and taken into custody.

The kidnapped child was recovered and police also recovered Rs3 million in ransom money from the suspects. Both male suspects were identified as residents of Bahawalpur district.

A local woman, allegedly involved in planning and facilitating the abduction, was also arrested from the area.

DPO Waseem Riaz commended the professionalism and bravery of the police team, stating that ensuring the safety of citizens remains the department’s top priority. He urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity promptly.
