The Unfortunate Trend Of Child Marriage

Child Marriage, one of the unfortunate and rampant trends, takes place in several parts of the country despite being prohibited under the relevant laws.
Child marriage is a serious violation of children’s rights, something that ensures gender inequality. Young girls, in particular, are denied to enjoy their rights to education and freedom, instead bounding them into lifelong commitments.
Consequently, young girls experience enormous issues of health due to early pregnancy and frequently bear the burden of domestic violence and abuse befallen them after marriage.
Doing it at a stage when they are not mature enough to understand what is at stake is criminal. In fact, it is against their basic rights; it is a criminal act.
Unfortunately, Parents pay no heed to the aftermath and happily bound the minor girls to marry in the puberty process.
Regrettably, our laws, too, have failed to protect such innocent children.
Ending this brutal practice will not be an easy feat, but it is certainly possible with our combined efforts to eradicate this wrongdoing.
The relevant authorities must reinforce and enforce the laws that prohibit child marriage, removing barriers to girls’education and offering them the support services who are at risk. The innocent children deserve it. They definitely do.
