MIRANSHAH: The North Waziristan police on 29 May 2024 claimed that a schoolteacher was involved in torching a girls’ middle school in Razmak area of the district.

Police informed The Express Tribune that the educator, Farid, who had been repeatedly warned for harassing female students at the school, was now implicated in the arson attack.

He had been barred from entering the school and was reportedly a member of the local welfare organization. A police official said that an FIR had been registered against the schoolteacher on the complaint of the watchman.

The watchman stated that on May 25, five men entered Golden Arrow Public School in Shakhimar village of Razmak tehsil. After overpowering him, they set the school on fire and managed to escape.

The fire gutted the furniture, ceiling, computers, books, and other equipment. Police stated that Farid had been arrested. Earlier in March, miscreants had destroyed the school’s solar power system.

Abrar, a member of the Shakhimar Welfare Organization, described the Golden Arrow Public School as a state-of-the-art educational institution.
